II 119th CONGRESS 1st Session S. 1036 IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES March 13, 2025 Mr. Cornyn (for himself and Mr. Luján ) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions A BILL To amend the Public Health Service Act to authorize fellowships under the Minority Fellowship Program to be awarded for training for professionals in the addiction medicine field. 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Improving Access to Addiction Medicine Providers Act . 2. Minority Fellowship Program Section 597 of the Public Health Service Act ( 42 U.S.C. 290ll ) is amended— (1) in subsection (a)(1), by inserting diagnosis, after related to ; and (2) in subsection (b), by inserting addiction medicine, after psychiatry, .
