R. 7174 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES January 31, 2024 Mr. Murphy (for himself, Mr. Davis of North Carolina , and Mr. Guthrie ) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce , and in addition to the Committee on Ways and Means , for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned A BILL To amend title XI of the Social Security Act to equalize the negotiation period between small-molecule and biologic candidates under the Drug Price Negotiation Program. 1. Equalizing the negotiation period between small-molecule and biologic candidates under the Drug Price Negotiation Program (a) In general Section 1192(e)(1)(A)(ii) of the Social Security Act ( 42 U.S.C. 1320f–1(e)(1)(A)(ii) ) is amended by striking 7 years and inserting 11 years . (b) Effective date The amendment made by subsection (a) shall take effect as if included in the enactment of Public Law 117–169 .
