R. 3509 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES May 20, 2025 Mr. Golden of Maine (for himself and Mr. Luttrell ) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary A BILL To remove the six-year statute of limitations on certain claims against the United States Government by survivors of members of the Armed Forces who died in the line of duty on or after September 11, 2001. 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Supporting Our Surviving Spouses Act . 2. Removing statute of limitations on certain claims against United States Government (a) In general Section 3702(b)(1) of title 31, United States Code, is amended— (1) in subparagraph (A), by striking or at the end; (2) in subparagraph (B), by striking the period at the end and inserting ; or ; and (3) by adding at the end the following: (C) a claim for survivor benefits under subsection (a)(1)(A) by a survivor of a member of the armed forces who died in the line of duty on or after September 11, 2001, in which case no time limitation for the receipt of such claim shall apply. . (b) Applicability date The amendments made by subsection (a) shall apply with respect to a claim filed on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.
