R. 2780 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES April 9, 2025 Mr. Kennedy of New York introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Agriculture A BILL To temporarily expand the supplemental nutrition assistance program income eligibility of households that include certain veterans. 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Setting the Table for Transition Act . 2. Temporary expanded SNAP income eligibility of households that include certain veterans For the purpose of determining income under the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 ( 7 U.S.C. 2011 et seq. ) during the 100-day period that begins on the date a veteran receives a Report of Separation (DD form 214) of a household that includes a member who is a veteran, only the income of such veteran shall be considered. 3. Definition For purposes of this Act, the term veteran means an individual who served in the active military, naval, or air service, and who was discharged or released therefrom under conditions other than dishonorable. 4. Effective date This Act shall take effect 90 days after the date of the enactment of this Act.
